Psalm 119 v 130 "The entrance of thy words giveth light" ( KJV)
Have you ever been in a dark room and turned on a light only to have it blow out within seconds?
Its interesting that for the few seconds that the light was on is enough to help you remember where things were positioned on the room but not enough to help you really search confidently for whatever item you were looking for.
My dictionary defines darkness as 'the absence of illumination'
We all desperately need illumination in dark places, especially on ground we are not familiar with !
Illumination is defined as 'supplying with light' or 'the state of being illuminated'
I want to connect this with 2 Peter 1:19 which tell us that "The prophetic word is a sure thing and we do very well to heed it , its a light that shines in a dark place and the day will dawn and the morning star will rise in your hearts "
( I like the Amplified versions very expressive way of putting it : And we have the prophetic word [made] firmer still. You will do well to pay close attention to it as to a lamp shining in a dismal (squalid and dark) place, until the day breaks through [the gloom] and the Morning Star rises ([a]comes into being) in your hearts).
This scripture talks about the word coming into being in our souls it speaks to me of the light overtaking the darkness and having a more permanent place in our hearts. So I see that not only do we need the "entrance: of Gods word but we need to "heed" it and "pay close attention" to it ............and in doing so we RETAIN that light !
